Indianapolis, IN – A 33-year-old Indianapolis man has pleaded guilty to a series of arsons that plagued the city’s west side throughout the summer of 2024.

Marc Bisson was arrested and charged after investigators with the Indianapolis Fire Department and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department linked him to four separate fires on Westview Drive, between Morris Street and Kappes Street. Authorities said the arson spree began on June 9 and concluded on August 21.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, surveillance footage from area businesses and a city-owned traffic camera helped identify Bisson as the suspect. The video reportedly showed him riding a bicycle from his home on South Sheffield Avenue to the crime scenes and then returning.

Bisson was charged by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office with two counts of arson with endangerment to human life, four counts of arson of property, and one count of criminal mischief. He has since pleaded guilty and will serve 10 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

In its 2025 update, the IFD Fire Investigations Unit reported investigating 228 fire incidents so far this year, including 47 ruled as incendiary arson. The unit has a 32.32% clearance rate, exceeding the national average of 23.80%. Authorities emphasized the importance of community surveillance and cooperation in solving these cases.

To date, 10 arrests have been made for arson this year. Officials noted three fire-related fatalities and one case of serious bodily injury in 2025.
