Palos Heights, IL – A Chicago man has been reported missing after his vehicle was discovered abandoned in the roadway early Tuesday morning in Palos Heights, Illinois.
According to a press release from the Palos Heights Police Department, officers were dispatched around 4 a.m. to the 11800 block of South Harlem Avenue after a passerby reported an unoccupied vehicle obstructing traffic. Authorities later confirmed the vehicle belonged to 37-year-old Joshua Blair of the 11400 block of Lothair Avenue in Chicago.
Officers found Blair’s phone and wallet inside the car, and family members told police he had left home around 3 a.m. but had not been heard from since. The Palos Heights Police Department classified Blair as missing and endangered and launched a comprehensive search operation.
Search efforts included deployment of a police drone, K9 units from the Chicago Ridge Police Department and Cook County Sheriff’s Office, and aerial assistance from a Chicago Police Department helicopter. Marine units also aided the search by scanning nearby waterways, including the Cal-Sag Canal and bike trails in the area.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Blair had not been located.
Authorities described Blair as approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 155 pounds, and last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and gray Nike shoes.
Police say they are working closely with Blair’s family and continue to investigate leads regarding his disappearance.
