Indiana Authorities Locate Missing Driver in Waterway After Overnight Search

Dyer, IN – A missing person investigation concluded Thursday after authorities recovered a driver from a submerged vehicle near Flagstone Drive.

Dyer Police and Fire Departments responded to a call Wednesday at 5:47 p.m. about a vehicle in the water. Officers found the car north of a parking area at 867 Flagstone Drive but couldn’t locate the driver.

According to Dyer Police, the MABAS 207 Dive Team and Lake County Sheriff’s Aviation Team searched the water and surrounding areas. Efforts through the night yielded no results.

On Thursday morning at 8:45 a.m., the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) used sonar equipment to locate the driver in the water. The MABAS 207 Dive Team later recovered the individual.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office is investigating and has not released the driver’s identity, pending family notification.
