Illinois Police Arrest Maroa Resident in Attempted Murder Case

Maroa, IL — A Maroa man is in custody after an alleged attempted murder incident involving a female victim. Police responded to a 911 call on North Maple Street on September 28. Officers found the woman with severe burn injuries upon arrival. Emergency services transported her to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to Illinois State Police (ISP), local authorities immediately arrested Matthew R. Broadhacker, 36, at the scene. ISP’s Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) was called to assist the Maroa Police Department in investigating the incident.

On October 1, the Macon County State’s Attorney charged Broadhacker with attempted murder, aggravated domestic battery, and aggravated battery — all Class X felonies. Broadhacker remains in custody at the Macon County Jail.
