Cook County, IL – A 27-year-old Chicago woman faces charges for allegedly smuggling drug-soaked paper into Cook County Jail. The incident occurred during her April 25 visit with an inmate in Division 10. Sheriff Thomas Dart confirmed the arrest in a press release on Monday.

Authorities say Jada Henry was seen slipping something down the back of an inmate’s uniform as they hugged. Deputies conducted a pat-down and discovered a plastic bag containing paper squares. The paper tested positive for buprenorphine, a synthetic opioid, according to Illinois State Police.

Henry, of West 53rd Place, was taken into custody on September 9. Prosecutors charged her with attempting to bring a controlled substance into a penal institution, a Class 1 felony. She was released on bond following her hearing at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse on September 10.
