Addison, IL – Car dealerships across Illinois are facing a surge in burglaries, with weekly incidents reported throughout DuPage County. Thieves are breaking into dealerships during the night, exploiting unlocked doors or using force. Their primary target is key fobs, which allow them to steal high-end vehicles quickly.

According to the Addison Police Department, arrests were made in May in connection with these crimes, but the threat continues. Addison police are urging Illinois dealership owners to tighten their security measures immediately.

Dealerships should ensure all key fobs are secured and doors are locked after hours. Addison police also recommend parking a “block” vehicle in front of garage bay doors to prevent entry and locking up all keys.

If you observe suspicious activity, contact Addison Police at 9-1-1 or (630) 543-3080. “If you see something, say something,” police advise.

With car thefts continuing across Illinois, dealerships must act quickly to protect their vehicles and facilities from future break-ins.
