Lincoln, IL – Illinois residents should prepare for a week of severe weather as occasional thunderstorms and extreme heat are expected to hit the region. The National Weather Service Central Illinois reports that strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, especially on Monday afternoon and evening, as well as Tuesday night.
According to the National Weather Service, the heat will intensify over the next few days, with the heat index peaking between 100 and 112 degrees from Tuesday through Thursday. Monday will see temperatures ranging from 85 to 88 degrees with chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Night temperatures will drop to 69-71 degrees with potential early morning fog.
Tuesday’s forecast includes a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms, with temperatures rising to 88-93 degrees. Night temperatures will range from 70-72 degrees with possible showers and thunderstorms.
Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day, with temperatures soaring to 90-95 degrees and a heat index between 104 and 112 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day and night, with temperatures dropping to 72-76 degrees overnight.
Thursday will continue to see high temperatures from 88-94 degrees with chances of thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Night temperatures will be cooler, ranging from 72-77 degrees.
Friday’s forecast shows continued heat with temperatures between 85-91 degrees and a heat index of 96-100 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to persist throughout the day and night, with overnight temperatures dropping to 69-74 degrees.
