Will County, IL –Drivers on Interstate 80 should prepare for overnight traffic stops from Monday, Jan. 6, to Tuesday, Jan. 7. Full closures will occur between Rowell Avenue and Briggs Street to facilitate aerial cable removal.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that closures will begin at 1 a.m. and last no more than 15 minutes each. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic, and work schedules are weather-dependent. Drivers are encouraged to plan for possible delays and seek alternative routes if necessary.
According to IDOT, these stops are critical to maintaining infrastructure and ensuring safety. Travelers heading through the area late at night are advised to remain patient and follow posted instructions.
For commuters, the closures may briefly impact travel times. However, IDOT reassures drivers that disruptions will be minimal.
