Hastings, NE – Mild and sunny conditions settle over south-central Nebraska on Wednesday, May 13, offering a comfortable break before a significant warm-up pushes temperatures into the 90s by the end of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, highs Wednesday will reach between 81 and 84 degrees across Adams County and nearby cities including Grand Island and Kearney. South winds between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, will create breezy conditions throughout the day.
The warming trend accelerates Thursday, with partly cloudy skies and highs climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s. Gusty winds up to 40 mph may develop, raising concerns for dry conditions and elevated fire risk in rural areas.
By Friday, temperatures are expected to peak between 87 and 94 degrees under mostly sunny skies, marking the hottest stretch so far this week across the Tri-Cities region. Winds will ease slightly, but heat exposure during the afternoon could still impact outdoor activities.
Little to no rainfall is expected through the end of the workweek, allowing dry conditions to persist across central Nebraska.
Residents should stay hydrated and monitor local forecasts as early summer-like heat builds into the region.
