Moses Lake, WA – Investigators continue to review evidence in an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead earlier this year, with officials confirming the case remains active as of this week.
According to the Central Basin Investigation Team (CBIT), the shooting occurred on Sunday, February 16, 2026, in the 4700 block of Road L.9 in Moses Lake, Grant County. Deputies with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the incident, which resulted in the death of a male subject. Authorities have not released additional identifying details about the individual.
Officials say detectives are still actively examining evidence tied to the case. The investigation is being handled by CBIT, a multi-agency task force that includes personnel from local and regional departments across Grant, Adams, and Kittitas counties.
Participating agencies include the Quincy Police Department, Ephrata Police Department, Ellensburg Police Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, and the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office. The Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team processed the scene, though none of the assisting agencies were involved in the use of force.
Under Washington Administrative Code requirements, CBIT will continue to release updates at least once per week, even if no major developments are available. Officials emphasized that transparency remains a priority as the investigation progresses.
