Addison, IL – Fire crews responded to a residential structure fire early Thursday morning that left multiple people injured, including a firefighter, in an unincorporated area near Addison.
According to the Addison Fire Protection District #1, the call came in around 2:34 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2026, near the intersection of Stone Avenue and Wood Dale Road in DuPage County. Initial reports indicated people may still be inside the home.
Firefighters arrived within minutes to find heavy fire coming from the front of the building. Crews quickly deployed teams to the second floor to conduct a search while others worked to contain the blaze.
Officials said a victim was located on the second floor and removed using a ground ladder. Firefighters also conducted extensive overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
The fire was brought under control within approximately 20 minutes, though crews remained on scene for about two hours handling hotspots and investigation efforts.
Authorities confirmed that three residents and one firefighter were treated and later released. Two individuals required transport from the scene for further medical care.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Addison Fire District and the DuPage Arson Task Force.
Officials are reminding residents to ensure smoke alarms are working and to have clear escape plans in place.
