Black River Falls, WI – Authorities in Jackson County are investigating a suspicious vehicle report after a teenager described a concerning encounter in the Village of Merrillan Wednesday evening.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported around 5:42 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, along North Main Street. A 14-year-old boy told deputies he was walking when a white van pulled up nearby and its side door opened.

Investigators say an adult male began to exit the vehicle while two other adult males inside appeared to be looking at the juvenile. The teen, concerned for his safety, ran home and later reported the incident.

Deputies reviewed surveillance video as part of the investigation. Authorities said the footage showed the van stopped across the street and a man exiting while holding what appeared to be a lunchbox. The individual then walked away as the teen fled. The van also left the area shortly after.

According to investigators, there was no evidence of conversation or attempted contact between the individuals and the juvenile, and no attempt was made to follow him.

Officials said the teen later reported feeling unsafe due to the situation, including the van’s door opening and the occupants’ behavior.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that, based on current information, there does not appear to be an ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains active.

Parents are encouraged to speak with children about safety and reporting suspicious activity.
