Germantown, WI – A large latex paint spill disrupted traffic in Germantown on Wednesday afternoon, closing key roads. The Germantown Dispatch Center reported that around 12:22 p.m., an unknown liquid was spreading on Washington Drive and Donges Bay Road.
According to the Germantown Fire Department, Battalion Chief Ryker Holms quickly upgraded the incident to a working spill after discovering the paint’s scope. Emergency responders acted fast, deploying crews to absorb the paint and prevent it from contaminating storm drains. The cleanup effort lasted approximately 3.5 hours, involving the coordinated support of several agencies, including local fire departments and hazmat teams.
All roads reopened by 4 p.m., but officials scheduled further cleanup to remove remaining dried paint. The public is advised to avoid Wasaukee Road and Donges Bay Road on November 6 as remediation work continues.
The Germantown Fire Department has asked residents with damaged vehicles to contact the Germantown Police Department. Two additional incidents required response during this cleanup.
