Atlanta, GA – A GoFundMe has been set up for McKayla Harshaw, who was tragically killed in a seven-car pileup on I-75 South near Howell Mill Road on Friday.

According to the family, McKayla’s boyfriend, Andrew Perez, was driving at the time of the crash and had planned to propose to her soon. The accident occurred around 1:34 p.m. when traffic abruptly slowed due to a stalled Pontiac on the highway.

Perez and Harshaw were caught in the deadly chain reaction when two Freightliner utility trucks struck multiple vehicles. Harshaw, 24, was the only fatality. Perez is recovering in the hospital with serious injuries, including a fractured skull and broken ribs.

The GoFundMe, organized by Harshaw’s mother, Melissa Gunther, aims to raise $10,000 to cover funeral expenses and a celebration of her life. Harshaw had no life insurance, and her family is asking for community support during this devastating time.

McKayla, described as a bright, loving young woman, would have turned 25 this Monday. Her family had expected an engagement soon, but instead, they are preparing for her funeral. Any contributions to the fundraiser are greatly appreciated as the family copes with this unimaginable loss.
