Atlanta, GA – Morning commuters across metro Atlanta may face low visibility and slick roads Friday as dense fog and thunderstorms move through the area between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, visibility could drop below a quarter mile overnight into early Friday, with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms by midday. Winds from the southwest may reach gusts of 25 mph, adding to driving challenges.

The heaviest impacts are expected from downtown Atlanta south to Fayette and Coweta counties, where rainfall totals could approach a quarter inch. Motorists are urged to reduce speed and use headlights during fog and rain. Temperatures will climb to the upper 70s despite the cloud cover.

Conditions will clear by Friday night, with a dry and sunny weekend ahead. Highs will reach 80°F Saturday and 82°F Sunday, though a slight chance of storms returns by Sunday afternoon.

Drivers should monitor local alerts and delay non-essential travel during peak storm hours Friday. The next weather update is expected by Friday evening as conditions stabilize statewide.
