Frankfort, Illinois – A community-wide cleanup event scheduled for April 18 is encouraging residents to help improve local neighborhoods and public spaces.
According to the Village of Frankfort, the Community-Wide Earth and Arbor Day Cleanup will take place Saturday, April 18, with participants able to volunteer throughout the day at assigned cleanup locations.
Residents can pick up supplies from April 13 through April 17 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Village Hall, located at 432 W. Nebraska Street. Officials said supplies include gloves, garbage bags, and a limited number of event T-shirts.
Participants will be assigned cleanup areas at the time of supply pickup, with efforts focused on roadways, parks, parkways, and other public spaces throughout the village. Organizers noted the event is designed to be flexible, allowing volunteers to participate at their convenience during the day.
In addition to supporting local beautification efforts, students may be eligible to earn community service hours by submitting photos of their completed work before the end of the event.
Village officials said prizes may be awarded for notable cleanup efforts, including the largest or most unusual items collected.
The event may increase activity around Village Hall during supply pickup days and across cleanup zones on April 18.
