Fond du Lac County, WI — A vehicle pursuit that began on Interstate 41 Wednesday evening ended in a rollover crash near Eden, sending two occupants to the hospital and leading to multiple charges.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began around 6:31 p.m. Wednesday after the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office notified dispatchers about a vehicle fleeing northbound on Interstate 41 near the Highway 28 wayside.

Authorities said the vehicle exited the interstate and continued eastbound on Highway 49, before Dodge County deputies ended their pursuit near Butternut Road as the vehicle entered Fond du Lac County on County Highway K.

A Fond du Lac County deputy later located the suspect vehicle traveling northbound on County Highway K at about 96 mph, according to the sheriff’s office. When the driver allegedly failed to stop for emergency lights and sirens, deputies initiated another pursuit.

Investigators said the driver turned east onto County Highway F and then north onto County Highway V. Deputies attempted to deploy stop sticks at County Highways A and V in the Village of Eden, but the attempt was unsuccessful.

A second stop-stick deployment at the County Highways V and K intersection also failed when the driver allegedly swerved toward a deputy to avoid the devices.

Authorities said the vehicle then entered a ditch, crossed County Highway K, and rolled over, coming to rest in the southwest portion of the intersection.

Deputies conducted a high-risk stop and assisted the occupants out of the damaged vehicle. Both individuals were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries, officials said.

The driver, a 23-year-old woman from Menasha who was on probation, was charged with:

  • Felony fleeing/eluding an officer
  • Recklessly endangering safety
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Operating with a restricted controlled substance

A 20-year-old Milwaukee man, also on probation and with an active probation warrant, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

For many local commuters and student drivers who travel rural county highways daily, the crash highlights the risks of high-speed pursuits on narrow roads.

Assisting agencies included the City of Fond du Lac Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, Eden Fire Department, and Eden First Responders.
