Florida Weather Alert: Strong Storms and Wind Advisory for East Central Florida Today

Orlando, FL – Strong storms and gusty winds are expected across East Central Florida today, with a Marginal Risk (1/5) of severe storms primarily between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Wind Advisory is in effect for Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, and Brevard countiesfrom 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Winds are forecast to be sustained at 20-25 mph, with frequent gusts reaching 30-40 mph.

Potential storm hazards include:

Gusty winds between 45-55 mph, with isolated gusts over 60 mph.

Coin-sized hail and locally heavy rainfall causing ponding on roads.

• A brief tornado cannot be ruled out.

Deadly lightning risks remain elevated.

Residents are advised to secure loose objects and prepare for difficult driving conditions, particularly in high-profile vehicles. Boating and surf conditions will remain hazardous. Temperatures are expected to reach the low to mid-80s despite the stormy conditions.
