New Orleans, LA – Heavy rainfall continues to soak New Orleans and surrounding areas, with parts of Louisiana experiencing significant precipitation. As of Friday morning, the National Weather Service reported the heaviest rain totals around Houma, Slidell, and portions of metro Baton Rouge. Rainfall totals in some areas have exceeded 4 inches, with localized regions receiving up to 6 inches since Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, another 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected throughout today, potentially leading to flash flooding. The region is under a flood watch, effective through Saturday morning at 7 a.m. Areas south of the I-10/12 corridor, including New Orleans, Gulfport, and Biloxi, face the greatest flooding risk.

Intense rain has already led to road closures and dangerous conditions. Officials urge residents to avoid flooded roads and stay weather aware. The combination of slow-moving storms and heavy rainfall may lead to water accumulation in low-lying areas, increasing the flooding threat.
