Plainfield, IL – A fire broke out at approximately 3:29 p.m. Sunday at a townhouse in the 14600 block of Thomas Jefferson Drive. Firefighters arrived within six minutes to find heavy smoke rising from the building’s attic.
The Western Will County Communication Center (WESCOM) received the 911 call reporting the fire near Wallin Drive and Presidential Avenue. Firefighters deployed hose lines to battle the fire, which had spread up the side of the building. Crews contained the fire to the attic, preventing it from reaching other units.
The family inside was unharmed. The building was deemed uninhabitable, with damages estimated at $300,000. Investigators determined the fire to be accidental.
