Extreme Cold Watch Issued in Central Indiana: Frostbite Risk in 30 Minutes Starting Sunday Night

Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana faces dangerously cold weather as an Extreme Cold Watch has been issued. Wind chills could plummet to -25 degrees starting late Sunday night through Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the coldest wind chills will occur overnight and into Monday morning. Frostbite can develop on exposed skin in just 30 minutes under these conditions. Hypothermia is also a concern without proper clothing and protection.

The affected area includes cities such as Indianapolis, Bloomington, Lafayette, and Muncie. Very cold wind chills between -10 and -20 are expected to persist Tuesday and Wednesday, adding to the danger.

Officials urge residents to dress in layers, wear hats, gloves, and face masks if venturing outside. Pet owners are advised to keep animals indoors as much as possible.
