Charles County, MO – Motorists traveling on Interstate 70 near Route K in St. Charles County should prepare for significant overnight delays due to a bridge rehabilitation project. Starting Thursday, August 22, and again on Monday, August 26 through Wednesday, August 28, up to two lanes will close in both directions. The closures will occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

Crews will initially close a single lane at 9 p.m. before extending the closure to two lanes at 11 p.m. One lane in each direction will remain open during the construction. This project is part of a broader initiative aimed at rehabilitating 12 bridges along Interstate 70 in St. Charles County.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), the work is crucial to ensuring the long-term safety and functionality of these bridges. MoDOT advises drivers to plan for additional travel time and to consider alternative routes if possible. The department will continue to provide updates on the project as it progresses, and motorists are encouraged to check MoDOT’s website for the latest information.

The I-70 bridge rehabilitation project underscores the ongoing efforts to maintain and improve Missouri’s critical infrastructure, ensuring safe travel for the public.
