Kansas City, MO – A significant heatwave is set to hit Kansas City and surrounding areas this weekend, with temperatures soaring to dangerous levels. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned residents to prepare for intense heat, with indices expected to approach or exceed 100 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday.

According to the NWS, the heat will build gradually, starting with a high of 83 degrees today. By Friday, the temperature will rise to 89 degrees, leading to an even hotter weekend. Saturday will see highs around 94 degrees, while Sunday’s temperatures will peak near 99 degrees. The heat index could push these temperatures even higher, making it feel like 105 degrees at times.

The heat will continue into Monday, with highs nearing 98 degrees. Cooler temperatures are expected by Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs around 90 degrees. The NWS advises those spending time outdoors this weekend to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas, and avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours.
