Louisiana – The oppressive heatwave continues to grip Louisiana as an excessive heat warning takes effect Friday. Areas near tidal lakes and sounds are expected to experience the most intense conditions, while the rest of the state remains under a heat advisory. Heat indices could reach up to 112°F, posing a significant risk to health and safety.

According to the US National Weather Service New Orleans, the warning is in place from 10 AM to 7 PM on Friday. The advisory urges residents to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seek air-conditioned environments.

The extended forecast indicates continued high temperatures. Friday’s high will be around 95°F, climbing to 96°F on Saturday. Sunday offers a slight respite with a high of 92°F, but the heat returns with highs of 95°F to 97°F throughout the next week. Even the evenings remain warm, with lows in the mid-80s.
