Sissonville, W.Va. – A motorcycle rider was arrested after allegedly leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit through parts of Kanawha County before crashing in a Sissonville parking lot, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident began on Wednesday, July 8, when Deputy Hurd was traveling on Derricks Creek Road and encountered a motorcycle traveling in the deputy’s lane of traffic, nearly striking the patrol vehicle. After turning around to initiate a traffic stop, the deputy said the rider fled.
Investigators said the pursuit continued along Derricks Creek Road, Page Road, Frogs Creek Road, Kellys Creek Road and Rocky Fork Road. Authorities allege the motorcyclist exceeded 80 mph, repeatedly crossed into opposing traffic lanes and ignored multiple stop signs during the pursuit.
The chase ended after the motorcycle traveled through the Piggly Wiggly parking lot on Sissonville Drive, where the rider reportedly lost control and crashed. Deputies quickly took the rider into custody with assistance from other Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies and the West Virginia State Police.
The sheriff’s office identified the rider as Hunter Stephen Reveal, 20, of Sissonville. Authorities said he was operating the motorcycle while his driver’s license was suspended. Reveal was arrested and charged with fleeing with reckless indifference. He was arraigned before a Kanawha County magistrate, where bond was set at $5,000 cash, and is being held at the South Central Regional Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing. The allegations have not been proven in court, and Reveal is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
