Buffalo, NY – Erie County officials issued a driving ban Thursday for towns south of the city due to severe winter conditions. The ban affects Aurora, Boston, Brant, Eden, Elma, Evans, Hamburg, Holland, Orchard Park, North Collins, Wales, and other villages.
According to the Erie County Department of Homeland Security, a travel advisory remains in effect for the southern half of Buffalo, Lackawanna, West Seneca, Marilla, Colden, Concord, Collins, and Sardinia. These areas are experiencing treacherous road conditions caused by heavy snowfall.
Officials report numerous vehicles stuck on roads and in ditches, slowing snowplows and emergency services. Authorities urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel and allow snow removal crews to clear roads efficiently.
Residents should check road conditions and closures before leaving their homes. Updated information on New York State road conditions is available at 511NY.org.
