Boston, Massachusetts – Cooler ocean air is already pushing inland, dropping coastal temperatures into the low 50s this afternoon and potentially slowing travel along shoreline roads through early evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, a seabreeze will keep coastal communities significantly cooler than inland areas Friday, with highs ranging from 50 to 52 degrees near the water and up to 62 degrees farther west. Skies remain mostly sunny today, but conditions begin to shift overnight.
By Saturday, widespread cloud cover settles across eastern Massachusetts, with highs dipping to 45 to 50 degrees near the coast and low 50s inland. Onshore winds will persist, especially along I-95 and Route 1 corridors, creating a damp, chilly feel despite limited rainfall.
Sunday brings the next weather concern, as light showers develop along the South Coast, including areas near New Bedford, Fall River, and Cape Cod. While rainfall totals remain low, wet pavement could create slick driving conditions, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.
Drivers should prepare for changing visibility and cooler temperatures near the coast, especially during peak travel periods. The unsettled pattern lingers into Sunday evening, with additional updates expected if rain coverage expands northward.
