Pueblo, Colorado – Gusty winds and dry conditions are elevating fire danger across southern Colorado today, with afternoon highs in the 60s and 70s and any sparks capable of spreading quickly along the I-25 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, breezy conditions combined with low humidity will create high fire risk through Friday evening. While no widespread rain is expected today, precipitation chances will begin increasing Saturday and continue into early next week.
Cities including Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Canon City, Trinidad, and La Junta will see warm, dry conditions today before a shift toward unsettled weather. By Saturday afternoon, scattered showers may begin developing, with rain chances increasing further Sunday. Some locations could see multiple rounds of precipitation, improving dry conditions slightly but also leading to slick roads at times.
Drivers should remain alert for sudden crosswinds today, especially on north-south routes like I-25. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and secure loose items that could be blown around by gusty winds.
Fire danger will remain the primary concern through Friday evening, with the next update expected as rain chances increase heading into the weekend.
