Wheaton, IL – DuPage County will hold a Senior Resource Fair this month aimed at connecting older adults with vital services while raising awareness about elder abuse prevention.

Set for Thursday, June 13, the fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the Auditorium of the JTK Administration Building, located at 421 N. County Farm Road. The event is free and open to the public.

According to DuPage County officials, the fair will feature representatives from 40 area agencies offering a wide range of senior-focused services. These include health care options, nutrition and meal programs, legal and mental health services, social supports such as adult day programs and respite care, and resources for in-home assistance.

The fair is scheduled in connection with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, observed annually on June 15. The international initiative encourages communities to educate themselves on the signs of elder abuse and neglect—including self-neglect—and how to report concerns, particularly for older adults and individuals with disabilities.

“This fair is about empowering our senior residents and their families with knowledge and support,” officials said in a release. “We want to ensure every older adult in our county feels safe, connected, and informed.”

DuPage County’s Adult Protective Services program will also be featured, offering information on how residents can seek help or report suspected abuse.

For more information on available services, including Adult Protective Services and other senior-related programs, residents are encouraged to visit dupagecounty.gov/programs.
