Dallas, Texas – A cold front slicing through North and Central Texas is triggering severe thunderstorms this afternoon, with the most dangerous conditions expected along and south of I-20 through midnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the main hazards include large hail, damaging winds, and the potential for a brief tornado. Scattered storms are already developing near the DFW Metroplex, but the most intense cells are expected to target areas like Waco, Killeen, and Palestine later today. Flash flooding is also a growing concern, especially in low-lying and already saturated areas.

Cities such as Cisco, Graham, and Gainesville could see periods of heavy rain, but the highest storm risk sits firmly over Waco and Killeen, where “severe” conditions are forecast. Travel could be hazardous on I-35 and U.S. 84 due to reduced visibility and slick roads. Residents are urged to charge devices, secure outdoor items, and avoid driving through flooded roadways.

This is a fast-moving system, but storms may linger behind the front for several hours in isolated locations. Watches and warnings may continue into the evening, so monitor NOAA Weather Radio and local alerts for updates.
