Fort Worth, Texas – Scorching heat will grip North and Central Texas this week, with Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, and surrounding areas bracing for mid-to-upper 90s and dangerous heat index values reaching 107°F through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, rain-free conditions will take hold by Thursday, pushing high temperatures into the upper 90s regionwide. Heat index values—what it actually feels like outside—could soar well above 100 degrees each afternoon. Dallas-Fort Worth expects 97–98°F highs Thursday through Saturday, while Waco, Temple, and Killeen will see temperatures climbing to 94–95°F.

Travelers and residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. The NWS also recommends frequent breaks in air conditioning or shaded areas, especially for outdoor workers or those without reliable cooling. The stretch of hot, dry weather marks one of the season’s first extended heat waves, typical for July in North Texas but still dangerous for those unprepared.

These conditions are expected to last through Saturday, with no significant rain relief in sight. More advisories could be issued if the heat intensifies or lingers.
