Des Arc, AR – A woman was fatally shot in Des Arc, Arkansas, on Wednesday night. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to the Arkansas State Police, the Des Arc Police Department (DAPD) responded to a 911 call at a residence in the 300 block of South 15th Street at approximately 9:15 p.m. on May 7, 2025. Officers arrived to find 60-year-old Teri Overton of Des Arc suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. Overton was pronounced dead on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
The case has since been handed over to the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation. The deceased will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
At this time, authorities have not disclosed further details or made any arrests.
