Danville Police Investigate Murder-Suicide After Woman’s Death

Danville, IL – A 32-year-old woman was shot and killed in Danville on May 9, 2025, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. Authorities responded to the 200 block of Grace Street at 5:57 p.m. after reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found the woman lying in the front yard of a residence with gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

According to the Danville Police Department (DPD), witnesses reported hearing gunshots and observed a man standing near the victim, holding a handgun. The man reportedly entered the home after the shooting and had not been seen since. DPD officers attempted to make contact with the suspect but were unsuccessful.

The Danville Police Emergency Response Unit (ERU) was called to the scene to assist with the investigation and entered the residence. Inside, they discovered a 60-year-old man, who was also found deceased with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The identities of both the victim and the deceased man are being withheld pending notification of their families, and the investigation remains ongoing. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office are assisting with the investigation. No further details about the incident have been released.
