Tippecanoe County, IN – A fatal crash on Interstate 65 this morning has left one person dead and another uninjured. The incident, which occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m., involved two vehicles near the 163-mile marker, approximately five miles from State Road 28 and near the Tippecanoe County line.
According to the Indiana State Police, a 2003 GMC Yukon, traveling northbound on I-65, collided with a 2020 Isuzu truck. The GMC reportedly lost control and veered off the roadway, rolling over and ejecting the driver. The Isuzu, which remained upright, came to a stop in a ditch. The driver of the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending family notification.
Indiana State Police further revealed that prior to the crash, a 9-1-1 call was received reporting the GMC as being driven recklessly. Troopers were en route to locate the vehicle at the time of the crash, but it was not clear if the vehicle had been located before the fatal incident occurred.
The driver of the Isuzu was not injured in the crash. Trooper Whitten, who responded to the scene, was assisted by multiple agencies, including the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office, Sheffield Township Fire Department, and Tippecanoe County EMS.
This investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
