CROWN POINT, IN — An active gas leak has forced the closure of Summit Street between Main Street and Court Street, near the Erie Lackawanna Trailhead parking area.
The Crown Point Fire Department is currently on scene near the intersection of Summit Street, Court Street, and West Street. The incident was first reported around 1:30 PM on Wednesday, July 10th. Crews from NIPSCO are working diligently to repair the natural gas leak, but there is no estimated time for the road to reopen.
This situation affects both vehicle traffic and trail access in the area, so residents are urged to avoid the zone and seek alternate routes for travel or recreational use of the trail.
