Silver Lake, IN – A Silver Lake man was fatally shot Wednesday morning during the execution of multiple felony arrest warrants at a Wabash County residence.

According to the Indiana State Police, the shooting occurred just before 9 a.m. as officers from several agencies, including the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, Wabash City Police Department, Wabash County ERT, and Kosciusko County SWAT, arrived at a residence in the 200 block of Crappie Road to serve warrants.

Officers encountered Dale White, 65, of Silver Lake, inside the home. Police said Mr. White was observed with a firearm and allegedly pointed it toward officers. In response, one officer reportedly fired at least one shot, striking Mr. White.

Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Mr. White was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said his family has been notified.

No officers were injured in the incident. The officer involved has been placed on administrative duty, which the Wabash City Police Department says is standard procedure pending investigation results.

The Indiana State Police is leading the investigation, with support from the Wabash County Coroner’s Office and the Wabash County Prosecutor’s Office. Officials say the investigation remains active and no further details are currently available.

Upon completion, the findings will be submitted to the Wabash County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
