Arlington Heights, IL – ComEd’s 2024 Power Planting Program has delivered over 3,500 saplings to 30 communities across northern Illinois, including Bourbonnais, Orland Park, and Arlington Heights. The initiative, in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, focuses on enhancing green spaces and reducing energy costs by planting trees to help lower summer cooling bills.
According to Ashley Karr, Village Forester of Arlington Heights, the trees are well-suited for local conditions and provide multiple community benefits. “These trees symbolize a commitment to a healthier, sustainable future,” Karr said.
Since 2015, ComEd has distributed over 33,000 trees in Illinois. The initiative helps reduce urban heat, improve air quality, and provide shaded areas for residents. Communities like Bourbonnais and Orland Park have benefited from the program’s environmental impact, with a focus on building a greener future for all.
