Grand Junction, CO – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of western Colorado and eastern Utah, with snow and strong winds expected to impact travel through Saturday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, affected areas include the Roan and Tavaputs Plateaus in Colorado and Utah, as well as the Upper Gunnison River Valley and Eastern Uinta Mountains. Snowfall accumulations could reach 8 inches in some areas, with winds gusting up to 45 mph.
Officials warn of hazardous road conditions, especially during the Friday evening commute. Slippery roads and reduced visibility could make travel difficult in Gunnison, Cimarron, Manila, and Dutch John. Higher elevations, particularly above 7,500 feet, are expected to see the heaviest snowfall.
Residents are advised to slow down, use caution while driving, and check road conditions by calling 511. The advisory is set to expire at 6 p.m. MST Saturday, though changing conditions could extend weather alerts.
