Denver, Colorado – Residents across northeast Colorado should prepare for damaging winds and large hail this evening as a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday. Strong storms could impact travel and outdoor activities through the late evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, counties under the watch include Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, and Yuma. Storms developing along the Nebraska border may intensify quickly, producing hail up to one inch and wind gusts exceeding 60 mph.

Drivers along I-76 and U.S. Highway 34 should be alert for sudden downpours and reduced visibility. Power outages are also possible if winds down trees or power lines. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and stay indoors if storms approach.

This is the first significant severe weather threat for the region this month. Stay tuned for additional warnings, and have weather alerts enabled on mobile devices. The thunderstorm watch remains in effect through 10 p.m., with further updates possible if conditions worsen.
