Cold Weather Alert for Alabama and Tennessee: Frostbite Risk Until Monday Noon, Wind Chills Near 0°F

Huntsville, AL – A cold weather advisory remains in effect from midnight Sunday through noon Monday for north Alabama and parts of southern Tennessee.

The National Weather Service warns of temperatures ranging from 8°F to 12°F, with northwest winds gusting up to 20 mph. Wind chills could plummet to between 0°F and -5°F, creating a risk for frostbite and hypothermia.

According to the advisory, the affected areas include Huntsville, Decatur, Florence, and Scottsboro in Alabama, as well as Winchester and Fayetteville in Tennessee. Residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure and wear layered clothing to prevent cold-related illnesses.

Officials recommend keeping pets indoors and ensuring they have warm, sheltered spaces.

The cold snap is expected to ease by noon Monday when temperatures begin to rise slightly. However, caution is advised for anyone venturing outside overnight or early Monday morning.
