Billings, MT – An Arctic cold front is set to bring snow and dangerously cold temperatures to the Billings area this weekend, creating hazardous conditions for residents and travelers alike.

The National Weather Service reports a chance of snow today, followed by a stronger system arriving Saturday night. Total snowfall is expected to remain under an inch, but temperatures will take a sharp plunge. Saturday’s high will hover near 16°F before falling into the single digits overnight, with wind chills dropping to as low as -15°F by Sunday morning.

Sunday will remain bitterly cold, with highs only reaching 14°F under partly sunny skies. Subzero wind chills will persist throughout the day and into Martin Luther King Jr. Day. These extreme conditions are expected to continue through early next week, with nighttime lows dipping well below zero.

Residents are encouraged to prepare by winterizing homes and vehicles and limiting outdoor activities during the coldest periods. Those traveling should check local road conditions, as snow and ice may create slick surfaces.
