Greenville, SC – A strong cold front is expected to move into South Carolina tonight, bringing the potential for severe weather, including damaging winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, strong winds will develop this evening, especially over the mountains, where a High Wind Warning is in effect. Wind gusts could exceed 40-50 mph in higher elevations, creating hazardous conditions. Additionally, an increased fire danger is expected earlier in the day due to dry conditions ahead of the front.

After midnight, a line of severe thunderstorms may develop, with the potential for damaging winds and heavy rain, particularly near the Blue Ridge Escarpment. The storms are forecasted to move southeastward, reaching the I-26 corridor by early Wednesday morning.

Residents should secure loose outdoor objects, remain aware of changing conditions, and prepare for potential power outages due to strong winds. Travelers are urged to use caution, especially in mountainous regions where high winds could create hazardous driving conditions.
