Coal City Traffic Disruption: Illinois 113 Railroad Crossing Shuts for Five Days

Coal City, IL – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced the closure of Illinois 113 at the BNSF Railroad crossing in Coal City, starting Monday, October 7. The closure will last for approximately five days to accommodate necessary repairs.

Drivers can expect delays and are advised to plan alternate routes. Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Broadway Street, North Street, and First Avenue. Westbound traffic will use Fifth Avenue, North Street, and Broadway Street.

According to IDOT, motorists should allow extra time for trips through the area and be prepared for slow-moving or stopped traffic. Drivers are urged to obey posted speed limits, avoid distractions, and remain alert for workers in the area.
