New Lenox, IL – A Chicago man is facing murder charges after a deadly road rage incident on I-80 in New Lenox.
Illinois State Police (ISP) reported that the altercation happened Monday evening near the westbound I-80 entrance at I-355. The road rage dispute between two drivers escalated when their vehicles collided. After the crash, 45-year-old Phillip E. Rogers of Chicago allegedly shot 30-year-old Lenier D. Clayton of Joliet.
Clayton was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Rogers was later apprehended by ISP investigators. He has been charged with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon.
