DeMotte, IN — A pursuit early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a Chicago man after an alleged vehicle theft incident involving two cars. Officers from the DeMotte Police Department responded to a suspicious activity call at a local car dealership around 2:05 a.m., spotting an orange Charger and a black Corvette leaving at high speed.
According to the DeMotte Police Department, officers, along with the Jasper County Police, pursued the vehicles on I-65 until the Corvette lost control near Crown Point, ending up in a field. The driver, Enari Jones, 21, of Chicago, was apprehended after a brief foot chase. The Corvette was reported stolen from Barrington, Illinois.
The Charger was later intercepted near Winfield, though the driver remains at large. Jones was booked into Jasper County Jail on felony burglary and motor vehicle theft charges. Additional charges are expected.
