Champaign House Fire Contained by Firefighters; Neighboring Home Sustains Damage

Champaign, IL – Firefighters responded to a residential fire in the 1600 block of Normandy Drive on Wednesday afternoon. The fire, reported at 1:08 p.m., heavily damaged the home, but crews quickly contained the blaze.

According to the Champaign Fire Department, firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the single-story home. Crews used multiple hose lines to combat the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. A neighboring home did suffer minor heat damage.

No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as officials continue their work on the scene.
