Milwaukee, WI – The US National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of southern Wisconsin until 10 PM CDT today. Residents are urged to prepare for two rounds of strong thunderstorms expected this evening and after midnight.
According to the National Weather Service, the first wave of thunderstorms is anticipated to hit during the evening hours, with another wave following later tonight. The storms may bring isolated hail up to two inches in size, wind gusts up to 70 mph, and frequent lightning.
Areas under the watch include Wausau, Stevens Point, Appleton, Fond du Lac, and La Crosse. Approximately 2 million people, 901 schools, and 62 hospitals are within the potential impact zone.
