Pendleton, OR – Strong winds are set to sweep across Oregon this evening, with gusts as high as 60 mph threatening roads, power lines, and travel safety. The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the foothills of the Blue Mountains, including Pendleton, from 4 p.m. today through 10 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the NWS, south to southeast winds of 30–40 mph are expected, with gusts peaking at 60 mph. High-profile vehicles along routes like Interstate 84 and local highways in the John Day Basin should proceed with caution, as travel conditions could become hazardous. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items and stay indoors to avoid falling debris.

Tonight’s weather will also bring steady rain, contributing to already challenging conditions. Temperatures are expected to hover near 50°F, dropping to 41°F overnight. The wet and windy conditions will persist through Wednesday, tapering off by evening as milder weather sets in.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast predicts continued rain Thursday, with highs near 50°F and a 90% chance of precipitation. Friday will bring heavier rainfall, while temperatures will remain stable in the low 50s. By the weekend, conditions should ease, with partial clearing and calmer winds expected.

Residents are urged to monitor updates and take precautions during the storm. Stay off roads if possible, and report downed power lines or debris to local authorities.
