San Francisco, CA – A Flood Watch has been issued for the North Bay, including Sonoma, Napa, and Marin counties, starting early Wednesday morning as significant rainfall is forecast to hit the area. The alert is set to last until 5 a.m. Friday, raising concerns about rising water levels and potential road closures.
According to the National Weather Service, rainfall will begin late Tuesday night, with peak precipitation on Wednesday and Thursday. Storm conditions may cause urban flooding, ponding on roadways, and rapid rises in creeks and rivers. Travel could be hazardous, particularly on local highways, including U.S. Route 101 and State Route 12. Residents are urged to monitor conditions closely and avoid low-lying areas.
The forecast calls for 1-3 inches of rain across most areas, with higher totals in the hills. Winds will also strengthen, reaching gusts of up to 40 mph by Wednesday night, creating an additional risk for power outages and debris on roads.
Thursday will bring continued rain, with precipitation tapering off by Friday afternoon. The weekend outlook is mostly dry, though some isolated showers may linger into Saturday.
