Binghamton, New York – Quiet and sunny conditions will hold through this afternoon, allowing for smooth travel and outdoor plans, but a midweek shift will bring increasing rain chances that could disrupt commutes by Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, high pressure will keep skies mostly clear today, with temperatures climbing into the upper 60s to low 70s across the Southern Tier and Central New York. Conditions remain dry through Tuesday before moisture increases ahead of a developing system.

Cities including Binghamton, Ithaca, Elmira, and Syracuse will see rain chances rise sharply late Wednesday into Thursday, with probabilities climbing as high as 80% to 100% during peak periods. Roads such as I-81, I-86, and Route 17 may become slick during heavier showers, especially overnight Wednesday into the Thursday morning commute.

Tonight, lows will drop into the upper 30s to mid-40s under partly cloudy skies, which could create a cool start Tuesday morning. While no severe weather is expected, steady rain midweek may lead to minor ponding on roadways and slower travel times.

Residents should take advantage of dry conditions early in the week and prepare for wetter weather by midweek. Additional updates are expected within the next 24 to 48 hours as timing and rainfall amounts become more defined.
